Hithered is one of my long-standing worldbuilding projects, with the likes of Mysenvar and The Argonaut Experiment, with all three sharing the same origin.

Synopsis

The Dome was once a research facility—they were experimenting on the practicality of genetic modification to grant sapience—but in the aftermath of an extinction-level event it now houses what may be the last life in the world. Beneath the canopies of The Dome lies the Undergrowth, a place of brilliance and ingenuity which hosts the last civilizations in the world.

When a cult-like group of centipedes begins marauding around the Undergrowth, using technologies and magics unknown to the peoples of the world, a small ragtag band of heroes must rise up and stop them.

My idea for Hithered is a complete TTRPG campaign setting and adventure book. The book would detail the complete world of Hithered, with its countries and factions and leaders and histories. It would also detail one primary adventure—and possibly a few smaller ones. I’m not entirely sure if Hithered would use its own custom TTRPG system or an existing one, that’s something I’d have to think about as the project actually grew to become a real thing.

At the moment Hithered exists in the footnotes of my sketch books and has very little actual progress made in regards to what I would like to do with the project.

The idea for the book is to provide a setting, some basic going-ons in the setting, and then allow the GM and players to decide what they want to do. The book would provide a primary adventure to possibly start off in the setting, that of stopping the growing cult-like group of centipedes who have appeared in the Undergrowth.

Adventures would see players running between cities and dungeons, gathering information and shopping with NPCs between dungeon raids where they level up, gather resources, and progress the story.
