Everyone had a spirit animal which they had to find in the wild and tame, at which point it would transform into the animal they truly desired. I had ventured into the woods to tame mine, accompanied by various friends who already had theirs.

I found a wild spirit and approached it, laying my hand on its forehead. The body of the animal contorted, squishing and pulling and folding back in on itself like playdough. Antlers and hooves and paws and faces pushed out and in from the body as it transformed. Then it began to grow. And grow. The face of a bear, then a dinosaur, then a whale, each pushed out from the body but it just kept expanding.

We began to back away, watching in awe and horror as the contorting mass continued to grow, elapsing the trees around us as we turned our backs and ran.
